With over 1,547 miles (2,490 km) of coastline along the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, Panama has no shortage of properties offering beach access, refreshing sea breezes and tranquil views of the deep blue. Both of these people offer visitors a look at some fascinating cultural and religious traditions such as the Black Christ feast and Congo drums dating back to the days of slavery.
Bocas del Toro
For years the hundreds of islands making up the archipelago of Bocas del Toro was a Caribbean oasis for divers, surfers, biologists, backpackers and many others seeking a slower more relaxed way of life in unique, tropical setting. Bocas Town, on Isla Colon, only has one small airport and a couple of paved roads, making it a charming,  yet rather poor, fishing village heavily dependent on tourism. Most of the locals are descendents of Jamaican immigrants that originally came to Bocas to service the once prosperous trade in cacao and bananas. As a result of these immigrants, Bocas has become a mostly English-speaking province inside a Spanish-speaking country.
Many of the characteristics that have drawn people over the years remain, however, what has changed in the last 5 years is the pace of development. Because of all the aforementioned draws, foreign investors are buying undeveloped islands and also opening new businesses in Bocas Town.
