Introduction
While some might think that the Rocky Mountains end somewhere in southern Colorado, when in fact, the same mountain range, made up of both active and dormant volcanoes, extends all the way down to Panama! The mountains running through Panama are much smaller than those of the Rockies, however with their higher elevations, they provide something very much needed at times in Panama,…cooler temperatures. While many seek out, and even crave the hot sun along the coasts, many prefer the cooler temperatures of the highlands, which vary between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit.
El Valle
El Valle is one of the most special Panama mountain property. It might be hard to image, but El Valle ("the Valley") is a small town located inside the massive crater of an extinct volcano (see aerial map). Only 2 hours drive from Panama City, El Valle has been a popular weekend retreat for city dwellers looking to escape the city's heat. Boquete
